Challenging the status quo and negotiating with managers, senior leaders and unions to reduce the MT burden and release 12,000 staff hours per year while maintaining legal and regulatory obligations and improving compliance.
Also standardising training requirements to roles rather than individuals to improve the mobility of staff.

Replacing all face-to-face soft-skills training with effective and engaging e-learning to reduce travelling requirements and increase the availability of resources to those who work remotely, non-standard hours or who prefer to study at home.

Restructuring of staff appraisals

Effective introduction of behaviours and aspirations to make appraisals shorter, forward-looking, practical (based on the 70:20:10 model of learning) and optional for all staff across 90+ sites of the organisation. This involved the training of 1,223 managers to the new approach via face-to-face and digital learning initiatives.

Working with the CAA, other external bodies and senior colleagues to improve the investigation and resolving of quality incidents to make NHSBT a safer and nicer place to work and to tailor responses to situations when they are being addressed.

International Medical Leadership Development Scheme
​
Development, design and delivery of an 18-month blended learning development programme for medical leaders in Transfusion Medicine across seven countries consisting of two face-to-face days and 16 online modules with webinars by subject matter experts from four countries.
