Soft Skills

I have a lot of experience in developing and delivering effective, transferable soft-skills training and development based on my Soft Skills Framework.

This includes:

  • Embracing Good Work Habits

    • This one-day workshop is designed to increase your self-awareness by starting to define your own personal values and how they contribute to you doing “a good job”.

    • The second half of this programme investigates your resilience and how you can better face and cope with the challenges of the workplace.

    • The interactive way we explore these aspects of our lives and work allows us to make sense of how we react in different ways to challenges to create a more fulfilling work-life balance and making our team more effective.

  • Customer 1st

    • This one-day programme will investigate and allow you to identify your internal and external customers and how to meet and surpass their expectations.

    • We look at the Golden Rules of Excellence in customer service and how your service can be assessed.

    • We will also investigate what leads to good or poor customer service and how we can enhance our customer services through good communication, teamwork and our procedures.

    • Feedback has already indicated that this programme gives delegates more confidence and leaves them better-informed through the use of clear examples taken from work experience

  • Communication Skills

    • Good communication skills are the bedrock of any successful organisation and we can all improve our skills as highlighted in the Your Voice Surveys.

    • This one-day programme supplements the work done within our departments to understand the barriers to effective communication and improve our skills to improve teamwork and avoid silo-working.

    • Through problem-solving exercises we can identify our own development needs and increase our confidence and ability to communicate effectively.

    • The interactive nature of this programme has indicated, through feedback, that it is both fun and useful in improving the confidence of delegates.

  • Courageous Conversations

    • Some conversations we need to have in our roles can be difficult for many different reasons: on this one-day interactive programme you will learn what constitutes a “courageous conversation” and explore how to respond appropriately and effectively.

    • Through discussion and recognising the importance of these conversations we help you to be more effective in any role and reduce levels of conflict or crisis across the Service and make your workplace more harmonious and a better place to inhabit.

  • Effective PDPR

    • This half-day programme will help you to understand the importance and structure of the PDPR process.

    • Together we explore how to get the most out of your PDPR; where you can get help and support and how to recognise a “good PDPR”. We also go through the paperwork to ensure that your department remains compliant with local and national standards required from those external agencies which inspect NHSBT.

    • Feedback from this programme indicates that delegates fully understand the importance of PDPRs and how they help in motivating and empowering us within our day-to-day work and our personal development.

  • Making Feedback Effective

    • If you want to make your feedback to colleagues more effective, motivational and developmental than this half-day programme is for you.

    • We investigate various feedback models and how we can implement them in our day-to-day work activities.

    • Our delegates have said how much they appreciated trying out some of the skills we covered in a “safe” environment with supportive colleagues and how it made them more confident and effective in giving feedback to their own colleagues.

  • Presenting with Confidence

    • If you get nervous or anxious in giving presentations to others then this one-day interactive programme will help you.

    • Together with other colleagues with the same anxieties we explore how to plan, prepare and present to a group. You finish the programme by presenting to the rest of the delegates and getting immediate feedback of how you have performed.

    • Previous delegates have commented how much fun they had with a topic they found difficult, and how the skills practiced have improved their confidence and competence in presenting in different situations.

  • Train the Trainer

    • If you are new to the role of providing training to others in the workplace, be it on an individual or group basis, then this programme introduces you to the principles of training, different learning styles and how to assess others.

    • In this interactive one-day programme we help you to develop and improve your training skills in a “fun and relaxed environment”
