Soft Skills on Hardware

We replaced all of our face-to-face soft-skills training with effective and engaging e-learning to reduce travelling requirements and increase the availability of resources to those who work remotely, non-standard hours or who prefer to study at home.
This process involved the redesigning of all of our courses for online consumption as just putting the PowerPoint presentations online is not e-learning!
As a group, we sat down and redesigned each programme from its learning objectives and are now in the process of expanding the online resources from a traditional to a progressive programme structure. This will allow more learner choice and better addressing of their individual learning requirements.

As a programme is chunked up into smaller modules, some of which are mandatory (M) while others are optional, the learner can choose their own pathway through the programme - either by what or how they wish to learn - the blue and red pathways in the image above show two learners who have both completed the programme but have done so by taking different routes.
As the number of modules increase then gamification methods, such as quests and soreboards can be introduced to further engage the learner. But that is for the future.
